KNOW YOUR PARTNER:
The Road to a Secure-Functioning Relationship
A Virtual Couples Workshop
The last few years have inspired us to create a 5-week Couple Enrichment virtual couples workshop using Zoom. This online workshop promises the same benefits and takeaways that you would have by attending our on location couples weekend workshop.
The choice to work more from home has created challenges for some couples — especially those with children, live-in parents, and new responsibilities at home and work. Now, more than ever, we need to learn how to create safety and security in our couple bubbles.
Are you ready to start practising kinder couple self-care?
Here’s what you will gain by investing 2 hours each week to attend this workshop. Be prepared to:
- learn some fundamentals about biology and the human brain
- understand how you and your partner are wired
- clarify the purpose of your relationship
- learn how individual attachment styles impact everyday interactions
- identify your patterns of behaviour as a couple
- practise real-time skill-building
- learn to maintain closeness and intimacy, even when you are disagreeing or feeling misunderstood
By the end of this 5-week series, you will have gained new tools to help keep your love alive. You will have a new awareness of what it takes to create a safe, secure, and lasting relationship. You will be able to talk more intimately and comfortably as a couple. And you will complete the course feeling more emotionally connected.
How Does it Work?
This workshop offers a balance of facilitator and video presentations, plus one-to-one activities that will focus on just the two of you. A maximum of 11 couples will attend each 5-week event. You will complete all personal couple activities during the workshop in private, together with your partner, after which you will be invited to rejoin the group to share with the other participants what you have learned. (Disclosure is always optional.)
Please Note: This workshop is educational in nature, designed to present information in a practical and informative way. A group experience does not take the place of couples therapy. Please contact us if you feel you need a more personal, one on-one therapeutic experience. (Right now we are working exclusively via videoconference).
What Can You Expect from Our Virtual Couples Workshop?
In the words of Stan Tatkin, Ph.D., author of Wired for Love and Wired for Dating: “There is nothing more difficult to deal with than another person… As individuals, we are complex. We don’t come with manuals to help our partners understand us.”
In this couples workshop, we will help you create a “working manual” as you start to know your partner better. You will learn:
- how your attachment and communication styles impact your relationship
- to read each other better
- how you trigger each other
- understand what a secure functioning relationship looks like
- learn what is safe and what is threatening to each other
This workshop is based in part on Dr. Stan Tatkin’s Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy® (PACT), and inspired by his book, Wired for Love.
Louise Dorfman & David Rubinstein
As close partners for more than 50 years, as parents and grandparents, as individual therapists, and as a husband-and-wife marriage and couples co-therapy team, we have acquired a rich source of theoretical and practical knowledge that we draw upon to help couples develop safe and secure, loving relationships.
Our studies with Dr. Stan Tatkin, PsyD, MFT. over the past 13 years, have clarified for us what holds couples together. Dr. Tatkin’s work integrates Attachment Theory and Neuroscience in his Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy® (PACT). As Level 11 PACT therapists, we are convinced that couples need each other to grow. Taking care of each other, they create safe, secure-functioning relationships where there is mutuality, empathy, and greater tolerance for each other’s differences.
We each have Masters Degrees in Counselling Psychology. We are Registered Psychotherapists with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Members of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP), the Ontario Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (OAMFT), the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), and the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). Louise is also a student member of the Canadian Association for Integrative Energy Therapies (CAIET) and a student member of the Association for Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT International).
We have created a virtual couples workshop to replace our on location in-person 2-day events. We use a securely-encrypted video platform that embeds Zoom, and can have up to 22 participants on the call. That’s a maximum of 11 couples. We will break out into Zoom rooms so that you can do your couple activities in private.
Plan ahead to attend, and begin to envision your life together through a new lens.
