If bi-weekly or weekly marriage or couples counselling is too time-consuming for you right now — or if a private Couple Intensive is beyond your immediate reach financially — a couples weekend workshop might be just right for the two of you.
Do you know all there is to know about your partner? If couples know why their partners do what they do, and say what they say, they are more equipped to create a safe and secure landing place where they can each feel free to be themselves within the relationship.
At our couples weekend workshop, you will quickly identify patterns of behaviour, gain some fundamentals about biology and the human brain, and begin to understand how you and your partner are wired. You will learn how you can maintain closeness and intimacy, even when you are disagreeing or feeling misunderstood.
How can you benefit from the time you invest in this workshop? By attending, you will:
By the end of this couples weekend, you will have gained new tools and deeper understandings to help keep your love alive. You will have some new ideas about what it takes to create a safe, secure, and lasting relationship. You will be able to talk more intimately and comfortably as a couple, and will leave more emotionally connected.
The workshop offers a balance of facilitator and video presentations, and one-to-one exercises that will focus on just the two of you. Attendance is limited to 6-8 couples, which allows space and time to have private conversations for the couple exercises.
You will complete all the couple activities together with your partner, and you will then be invited to share with the other participants what you have learned. (Disclosure is always optional.)
Please Note: This workshop is educational in nature, designed to present information in a practical and informative way. A workshop does not take the place of couples therapy. Please contact us if you feel you need a more private, one on-one therapeutic experience.
In the words of Stan Tatkin, Ph.D., author of Wired for Love and Wired for Dating: “There is nothing more difficult to deal with than another person… As individuals, we are complex. We don’t come with manuals to help our partners understand us.”
In this couples workshop, we will help you create a “working manual” as you start to know your partner better. You will learn:
Louise Dorfman, MA
David Rubinstein, MA
As close partners for more than 45 years, as parents and grandparents, as individual therapists, and as a husband-and-wife marriage and couples co-therapy team, we have acquired a rich source of theoretical and practical knowledge that we draw upon to help couples develop safe and secure, loving relationships.
Our more recent studies with Dr. Stan Tatkin, PsyD, MFT., have clarified for us what holds couples together. Dr. Tatkin’s work integrates Attachment Theory and Neuroscience in his Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy® (PACT). As Level 11 PACT therapists, we are convinced that couples need each other to grow. Taking care of each other, they create safe, secure-functioning relationships where there is mutuality, empathy, and greater tolerance for each other’s differences.
Tolerance comes from an understanding and appreciation of each other’s individual attachment styles (response patterns based on early child/primary caregiver interactions).
This workshop is based in part on Dr. Stan Tatkin’s Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy® (PACT), and inspired by his book, Wired for Love.
Both Louise and David have Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology. They are members of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists, Psychometrists, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (O.A.C.C.P.P.), the Ontario Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (OAMFT), the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), and the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). Louise is also a student member of the Canadian Association for Integrative Energy Therapies (CAIET).
Join marriage and couples co-therapists Louise Dorfman and David Rubinstein of Couple Enrichment as they present this 2-day couples weekend workshop in Orangeville, Ontario. Plan to attend now, and begin to envision your life together through a new lens.

“The [couples weekend workshop] was a great balance of private and personal time vs group work. The material covered was simple and practical. We have broken down barriers to communication and closeness with this way of thinking about relationships.” The facilitators “did an amazing job at providing insightful tips and techniques to create the loving and caring relationship we want for our future. There was a lot of opportunity to practice the lessons/material in private as well as ask questions one-on-one or via group discussions.”
“We were extremely pleased with this program and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a deep, meaningful, loving and respectful relationship.”
“The program is ideal for any couple, any age, whether dating, engaged or married.”
“Thank you both so much for your time, energy and shared wisdom this weekend! We were delighted to have you as our facilitators and appreciate your commitment to make this a great experience for our Banff Couples Conference Community! Warmest wishes & appreciations.”
